Book 2 · Early intermediate alto recorder
Expanding skills and cultural horizons — sixty pieces, grades 3–4.
Fourteen chapters that introduce the great Baroque composers (Telemann, Handel, Bach, Vivaldi, Barsanti) alongside Playford’s Dancing Master, French and Spanish Renaissance, and folk traditions from Germany, Ireland, Scotland, England, and Japan. The Telemann TWV 40 sonatas in Chapter 1 are the natural entry point.
Note on chapter sizes: the folk and Renaissance chapters are fuller than the composer-anchored ones because the source material is shorter and easier to engrave at lesson-appropriate length. The Handel, Barsanti, and Baroque-collections chapters each carry a small set of featured movements as an entry point; the larger advanced sonatas live in book 3.
